Fighting Racism in a Conservative White Town

It’s a fact that after decades and decades of racism and police brutality against Black Americans and other people of color, the George Floyd case brought the entire topic to the forefront. This has exposed the ugly face of America and white people don’t like it. If you have any doubt about that all you have to do is look at what is being spewed on the conservative channels (not news) such as Fox, OAN, and Newsmax. They are pushing as many false narratives as they can and the good news is — America isn’t buying it. 71% of the country support the decision of the jury against Chauvin and this trial has opened up a Pandora’s Box. It can only be compared to the media films of the 60s when America and the world viewed the mistreatment of Black Americans in Alabama as police turned fire hoses and dogs on them for no reason. Racial injustice may finally be acknowledged by most people, but it continues to be a battle in the conservative white towns. Nowhere is this more obvious than on the social media platforms such as “Nextdoor” where neighbors like to act like they are there to help but instead attack each other at every turn.

I have spent the last 5 years or so monitoring, tracking, and watching as conservatives that followed the former guy felt more empowered to state their racist and bigoted feelings. In the past they knew that what they felt was wrong and an educated…
